STARNER JONES, MD

Born and raised in the rural hill country of northeast Mississippi, Roger Starner Jones, Jr, MD is a board-certified emergency and addiction medicine physician and founder of Nashville Addiction Recovery, Belle Meade AMP, and Recovery Now. He is a graduate of the Emergency Medicine Residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center and Addiction Medicine Fellowship in the Department of Psychiatry at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Dr. Jones has treated over 80,000 patients and detoxed more than 1,000 people during his career.

While practicing as a physician, he saved up enough money to run for Congress, fueled by his passion for medicine and meaningful healthcare reform. Although he lost his congressional race in 2015, this pivoted him into his next move: relocating to Texas and co-owning four freestanding ERs. During this time, he got his footing in entrepreneurship and felt a calling to work in addiction medicine.

Motivated to help those in need, like his father who lived the last 12 years of his life sober, Dr. Jones entered the Addiction Medicine Fellowship Program at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He has seen firsthand, over and over, that sobriety is life-changing in every aspect of an individual’s life, an experience that sustains the dedication he needs to continually support those seeking recovery.

Outside his practice, Dr. Jones advocates for other stigmatized challenges in life. He’s passionate about the power of sobriety and hopes to one day produce a documentary on improving the epidemic of homelessness in our society. Above all, Dr. Jones is driven by his devotion to helping others in times of need.
